Production: Furioso II was imported to Germany in 1968 by Georg Vorwerk to “stabilize” the type of Warmblood mares who were themselves TB crosses. He became known as the Stempel Hengst, or “Stamp Stallion”, because his offspring got his “very good feet and legs, with seldom seen correctness in all parts”; his outstanding neck and shoulder, striking dappled chocolate chestnut coat with flaxen tail and white markings. His offspring brought record prices at auction. Daughter Fiorello Queen sold for 200,000 DM. From 1979 to 1989, Furioso II was the Number One Stallion in Germany based on money earned by his progeny. In 1990, he was still the leading sire of Dressage horses. Furioso II sired over 100 States Premium Mares. Of these, Ausnahme (dam sire Admira), became German Champion Mare in 1986.
Furioso II sired over 60 Approved sons. One of the best stil in Germany is Freiherr, sire of the German Champion Mare, Weltwunder. The Furioso II son, First Class (USA) was German Champion of 4 Year Old Riding Horses. Son Voltaire is a leading stallion in Holland. Son Heisman, was two time AHSA (now USEF) Jumper of the Year under M. Matz, winning the 1992 Olympic Selection trials and was on the USET at the 1992 Olympics (10th individual). Approved sons Fascination and Florian have outstanding performance and production records in the US, along with the Freiherr son, For Sure.
Sire’s Pedigree: Furioso xx— Son Lutteur B won the Gold Medal in showjumping, 1964 Tokyo Olympics. In 1966, the Furioso xx daughter Pomona B won the World Championship in show jumping. Granddaughter, (by Lurioso) Quenotte, produced the famed Cor de la Bryere.
Dam’s Pedigree: Dame de Ranville—Her sire, Talisman, is in the pedigrees of French International show jumpers. Her grandsire, Orange Peel xx, is the great grandsire of Alma (deceased), one of the greatest sires of show jumpers (I Love You, Globe and Olympic sire, Jalisco B, etc.)
